Curatorial Dictionary



Curatorial Dictionary is an ongoing, long-term, collaborative research project that examines how curatorial discourse is used and understood in relation, and often in opposition, to curatorial practice. The project is also an attempt to complicate international, mostly Anglophone, curatorial discourses through looking at localized art and curatorial practices as case studies.

Csakoda Group: Local Service

Bánkitó Festival 2015 /

tranzit.hu participates for the fifth time at the Bánkitó (Lake Bánk) Festival, a unique summer festival located in Northern Hungary, which was initiated by the Jewish youth organization Marom Club Association. This year, tranzit.hu invited the Csakoda (One way) artist group to realize a project at the Festival. The Local Service project revolves around the concept of locality as well as the analysis of the meaning of the term “locals.”

Twelve to Make Peace

Simulation game restaging the Treaty of Trianon /


As a part of tranzit.hu project War of Memories we restaged the peace conference of Trianon with the participation of seven secondary school history teachers, five art professionals, and with the contribution of Gergely Kispál (actor) and Tehnica Schweiz on the basis of the simulation game developed by Planpolitik.

The public editorial meeting and conference in Budapest explores the changing notions of history and memory, advancing the thesis that debates around museums, monuments, memorials, re-enactments, revisionist historiography, and rivalry between such traumas as Trianon and the Holocaust today constitute a major political battleground in Hungary as well as internationally, aiming to control the imagination of the past instead of the future.
