How can an art institution be constructed through curatorial/artistic practices? – a lecture by Dora García and Chus Martínez in Impex

In the framework of the December seminar of the Free School for Art Theory and Practise a public lecture by Dora García Spanish artist and Chus Martínez Spanish curator, director of the Frankfurter Kunstverein will take place on December 14, from 8 p.m. in Impex (1086 Bp., Futó u. 46.)

Chus Martínez and Dora García has been working together for years on various artistic projects. The lecturers will speak about their experiences of these projects, and about how institutional reforms can be initiated by projects. In the lecture Dora García will present briefly three of her works (1101001000infinito, „The Beggar’s Opera”, the project for the Frieze Art Fair), and Chus Martínez will speak about the related notions interesting and important for her.

Chus Martínez
Curator and critic currently the director of the frankfurter kunstverein since january 2006. Between 2002-2005 she was the artistic director of sala rekalde, a public art space in the city of Bilbao and between 2001-2003 the curator of the project room of "La Caixa Foundation" in Barcelona. She writes for different publications and magazines such as Afterall and she is also in the advisory board of the coming Carnegie International (2008).

Dora García
Spanish artist currently living in Brussels. Her work ranges from video and film to performance in public space. Recently she has participated in exhibitions such as Münster Sculpture Projects, festivals such as FID Marseille or Rotterdam Film Festival, and she has developed projects with GfZK (Leipzig), Macba (Barcelona) or Les Laboratoires d´Aubervilliers (Paris). www.doragarcia.net
