About Us to You / Photography and Activism
Campaign presentation forum and exhibition

Time: March 27, 2014, 5:00-8:00 pm
Venue: Mayakovsky 102, tranzit.hu open office, Király u. 102, 1/1, 1068 Budapest

About Us to You is an honest campaign, where we use photography to draw attention to such important issues as the struggle against social exclusion and discrimination, the problems of homeless people, solidarity towards one another, and the respect of human rights. The workshop and the campaign are built on close cooperation. Everyone in our community is equal; decisions are made jointly, following nuanced discussions and debate.

Jointly formulated questions:

How can photographers become activists, helpers committed to social issues?
What is the role of visual communication, documentation, and the photo reportage in the representation of social questions?
How should difficult, deep, and sensitive social topics be photographed? How can photos be effectively utilized in the hope of bringing about change?

The participants of the About Us to You / Photography and Activism workshop and campaign are the students of the Gandhi High School of Pécs and the Kölcsey Ferenc High School of Budapest, as well as photographers of the Photography and Activism course of Contact Photography Courses, including the homeless volunteers of The City is for All Group.
