Art Always Has Its Consequences
Artists' Texts from Croatia, Hungary, Poland, Serbia, 1947-2009

Why do artists write texts? When and why this genre was developed and what significance it gained in Easter-Europe in the last sixty years?

Talk (in Hungarian) about the publication with artist Róza El-Hassan and art historian Sándor Hornyik.
Moderator: Zsuzsa László, art theorist, one of editors.

After the talk the text of Tibor Hajas' action reading "Freedom Industry Broadcast, Channel 4" is presented. The poem which is contained in the anthology was originally read by Tibor Hajas on 21 July 1973, in Balatonboglár, in György Galántai's Chapel Studio.

The reader, published by Stenberg Press, is a collection of manifestos, critical texts, and writings addressing public issues written by artists and artist groups from Eastern Europe between 1947 and 2009. The publication is result of an international curatorial research collaboration of four organizations: What, How and for Whom/WHW, Croatia; New Media Center_kuda.org, Serbia; Museum Sztuki in Łódź; and tranzit. hu.

With texts by Gábor Altorjay, Dimitrije Bašičević Mangelos, Dunja Blažević, Ákos Birkás, Włodzimierz Borowski, Zbigniew Dłubak, Goran Đorđević, Orshi Drozdik, Stanisław Dróżdż, Róza El-Hassan, Miklós Erdély, EXAT 51, Group February, The Group of Formalist Artists, Tibor Hajas, horrorkatze, György Jovánovics, Tadeusz Kantor, Lajos Kassák, Tamás Kaszás, Boris Kovač, KwieKulik, Siniša Labrović, Led Art, Vlado Martek, Slavko Matković, Teresa Murak, Orange Alternative, Andrzej Partum, Ewa Partum, Jerzy Rosołowicz, Tamás St.Auby, Mladen Stilinović, János Sugár, Tamás Szentjóby, Josip Vaništa, Peđa Vranešević, Branko Vučićević, Workers in Culture, Andrzej Wróblewski, Želimir Žilnik, and Artur Żmijewski.
